Updated Features in 1.1 Beta

As noted in the New Features section, these have all been observed in beta and so are subject to change before release.

Loupe - Now displays exact pixels at any zoom depth, no more blurring of pixel boundaries past 100%.

Layered PSD Support - Now preserves layers on import, which is to say after importing a PSD you can “Open for External Editing” and you will see the layers you imported with.  Any Aperture™ adjustments made after import will flatten that version when opening externally later on.

However, If you create a new PSD via “Open in External Editor”, then duplicate that version - the new duplicate version will be a copy of your PSD that you had created before, with all of the layers you had as well.  Opening the duplicated version in an external editor will show you all the same layers.
RAW Decodes Improved - Saw a CR2 file that had less shadow noise in the 1.1 decode than the 1.0.  Also, D200 support has been announced for 1.1 (did not witness this).

Mini Book - while no new Book templates were in evidence, there was a book I had not seen or heard of before -- the Mini Book.  This is a very small (approximately 2x3”) book that is cheap to make as meant as a kind of giveaway sampler, at a cost of around $5 each.  This is not strictly an update then from 1.0.1 but I thought it should be mentioned as no-one seems to have used it...   when selecting a book theme choose book size “mini” to see the mini book.

Applescript iLife Helpers - while additional Applescript features are unknown,  Apple has made four different custom Applescripts to use within Aperture.  The ones with question marks have behaviors that are not observed, only guessed at.  All of these Applescripts will not ship with 1.1, but will be placed on Automator World at some undetermined date (probably right around the release of 1.1).

  1.    iDvd - exported a selected set of images to iDvd, prompted for a theme, and had them load into the iDvd system.
  2.    iPhoto - Exported a selected set of images into an iPhoto album, prompting for the album name.
  3.    iPod - export images at reduced size into the Pictures folder in preparation for the iPod
  4.    iWeb - create an iWeb gallery with selected photos, prompt for page type (Blog or Photos page)
